With its olfactory and aromatherapeutic qualities, the oil represents a special treasure of nature. The scent of Laricio pine is considered to be one of the most successful pine oil creations. The intense fruity citrus accord, which is characterized by bergamot, lemon and lime, combined with a distinctly fresh and clear note, sets the oil apart from the related black pine oil. The citrus-like note stimulates and activates, which is why it is also a mental strengthening oil. Especially due to the ester and sesquiterpene content, the oil has a psychic mood-enhancing effect.

Laricio pine oil is both mild and powerful, which makes it an ideal oil for the supportive treatment of respiratory problems. As it is very skin-friendly, well-tolerated and pain-relieving, it can also be used for children and elderly people. The reason for this is the significantly lower monoterpene content compared to other essential tree oils. Laricio pine oil is a suitable component in health-promoting fragrance mixtures to increase the immune system and during convalescence.

Origin
The Laricio pine is a subspecies of the black pine (Pinus nigra), which grows wild in Corsica at altitudes of 1,200 metres and above. In order to ensure that only the branches of the Laricio pine are distilled, the harvest takes place at an altitude of 2,000 metres. Only the Laricio pine grows from this height. The oil of the wild Laricio pine is Ecocert certified and is released by the ONF (Office national des fôrets) in Corsica. The authority ensures that only branches that grow downwards at a certain time and make paths impassable are used for distillation. No extra trees are felled for distillation. The Laricio pine has a light and loose crown, whereas the trunk stretches straight as a candle towards the sky. The bark is light grey and deeply cracked, the bark is scaly and lighter than the black pine. The tree can live up to 1,000 years.
