The Saponificio Varesino was founded in Brebbia (VA) near the shores of Lake Maggiore in 1945. The Saponificio Varesino has perfected the production method through new processing techniques and is still an excellent producer of washing and toilet soaps, flake soaps and industrial products. Still maintaining the old method of saponification of Marseille, today heir to the increasingly rare soap factories, is now characterized by the ability to satisfy any need with basic products of top quality brands for third party customers.
Experience, patience, attention to detail. These are just a few of the requirements that the soap manufacturer has when saponification is not a chemical process but a manual process where the electronic management tools are not needed, since it is the man who makes the soap. The knowledge of correctly assessing the consistency of the base and then testing the balance of the raw materials with the help of a steel ladle increases the skill and experience of the artisan soap maker who makes and works each 12,000 kg kettle. The eyes follow, support and correct every step of the production process.
The traditional processing in the kettle
The process of making soap in the kettle represents the artisan tradition according to which man has been making soap for centuries. In a first phase, the saponification, the fats - mainly consisting of glycerides and fatty acids - are converted into sodium salt. This process must be carried out in such a way that the resulting product is of good quality and suitable for further processing. It is therefore necessary to obtain an easily pumpable mass, generally containing 30% water, with as little alkali and electrolytes as possible and glycerine, the recovery of which is an economic factor in this process.
The transformation of fats into soap can therefore be achieved with the traditional boiler processing (Lavorazione in Caldaia).
As in the tradition of that time, we still produce soap with this ancient and natural method, which guarantees the final product the highest quality and at the same time its cleaning power and a very gentle and soothing treatment for the skin, which becomes softer and more elastic after frequent use.
